Who We Are

The REPAI project is hosted by Aalborg University (AAU) in collaboration with Copenhagen University (KU) and Aarhus University (AU). We are also supported by a diverse group of international scholars across various research fields, ensuring a broad and comprehensive approach to our work.

Team

Our management team is composed of three Principal Investigators, each leading one of the core research disciplines: AI Technology, AI Ethics, and AI Governance. The PIs will rotate as the project leader to maintain a balanced multidisciplinary focus. The initial leader will be Professor Thomas Moeslund from AAU.

International Collaborators

Our centre benefits from the expertise of international collaborators who co-supervise and host PhD students:

  • Sergio Escalera, University of Barcelona
  • Søren Holm, University of Manchester
  • Lars Mathiassen, Georgia State University, US
  • Samar Faraj, McGill University, Canada

Governance

The project management team is overseen by a steering committee, chaired by Poul Toft Frederiksen from the Poul Due Jensen Foundation, alongside heads of departments and a pro-dean of research from AAU.

Advisory Board

Our advisory board comprises leading scholars and representatives from public and private organizations. Their role is to advise on risk management and the quality of our research, helping us to leverage the agile nature of our centre and adapt to external changes. The board meets annually and participates in workshops relevant to their expertise. Key members include:

  • Serge Belongie: Head of Pioneer Centre for AI (P1)
  • Sine Nørholm Just: Head of Algorithms, Data & Democracy (ADD)
  • Ole Sejer Iversen: Head of Center for Computational Thinking & Design, AU
  • Cathrine Pihl Lyngstad: Head of AI-Lab, NAV, Norway
  • Johan Busse: Head of Danish Data Ethics Council
  • Andreas Ambolt: CEO at Ambolt
  • Mette Birkedal Bruun: Centre Leader, Vice Chair of The Danish Council for Research and Innovation Policy at Ministry of Higher Education and Science, Denmark

Through this collaborative and multidisciplinary effort, REPAI strives to make significant contributions to the field of AI, ensuring that our work is responsible, ethical, and impactful.
